- Course in Russian Language and Culture introduced children and adults to Russian vocabulary, grammar, culture, art and history.
- Jazz at the Highlands – A jazz festival with nationally known musicians and master classes between aspiring local jazz students and the artists.
Science and Math
- 21st Century Pioneers in Science – Bimonthly student meetings to explore science areas which enhance the school’s curriculum.
- Calculators: Problems Solving Pals – A seminar designed to teach children and adults how to use pre-calculus calculators to solve math problems in schools and everyday life.
- Educational Ecology Unit – A non-profit organization of educators who develop age-specific environmental projects.
The Environment
- Aces’ Rain Forest – elementary-aged children build a model rain forest to learn and teach the community about the ecosystem.
Reading and Writing
- Books 4 all – Teaching elementary students the value of their writing through producing and publishing their own books.
- Poetry Across the Curriculum – Exposure of students to poetry through a presentation by a nationally known poet and a workshop.
- Collaborative Writing Instruction – Teaching students writing, proofreading and teamwork skills through a computer writing program.
- Remedial Summer School Program – Each year the WEOF provides support for this existing community program. It is held annually at Shady Grove Elementary School and is open to all elementary school age students residing within the Wissahickon School District regardless of school affiliation.
Community Focus
- Making the Most of Your College Interview – A seminar to provide students the interviewing and communication skills needed for their future.
- The “Gwynedd Almanac”: Anecdotes Lovingly Preserved – A 38-page book of the history and culture of the Gwynedd area produced by students through interviews with long-time residents.
- History and Development of Ambler Borough – Elementary-aged children learn the history of Ambler through research, field trips and interviews.
- Robert Triansky- Change March 31, 2000- The WEOF sponsored a full day seminar at the Wissahickon High School.with this dynamic motivational speaker for the senior class. Workshops followed the assembly program to give more specific techniques on how to turn the student‚s dreams into reality. Mr. Triansky’s seminars promote self-esteem and foster an appreciation for the value of commitment to family and friends. He is a gifted storyteller with a sincere message for young people about successfully confronting the challenges of growing up.

Technology and Education
- The Wissahickon Consortium of Elementary School Libraries – the 9 area public, private, and parochial schools join together to purchase multi-media educational software and share expertise, experience and resources.
- The Virtual Reality: A Kid’s Technology Expo – Expose students, adults, and educators to computer programs and technology.
