The plan for the Lower Gwynedd nature center is now complete! WEOF looks forward to working with parent groups and the community to make it a reality. Located at the corner of Knight and Houston Roads, in the backyard of Lower Gwynedd Elementary School, Wissahickon Middle School and Wissahickon High School, this center now includes a walking trail through a meadow, woods and wetlands. A teaching pavilion with picnic tables has also been installed for use of students at all levels. The trail connects to the Lower Gwynedd trail system. Work that remains to be done includes the building and installation of a bird blind and birdhouses, the creation of a tree identification key and the installation of educational signage. Some of this work is underway in the form of local Eagle Scout project

Second and third grade students participate in surveying and wetland delineation for the Lower Gwynedd Nature Center.
WEOF is looking to involve high school students in this nature center. Wissahickon High School’s horticulture club has already agreed to help with plantings. We are looking for students interested in graphic design or science to design explanatory signage for the trail. If you are interested, please contact us!
