WEOF continues to grant requests throughout the Wissahickon School District. In the gymnasium at Mattison Avenue Elementary School, you can check out the brand new rock climbing wall. All the students and even some of the teachers are staying fit with this new and fun piece of equipment. Last year students at Wissahickon Middle School enjoyed after school activities in the Wiss Pals program. This program helps students in general education as well as students with special needs enjoy social activities together. The end result is a better understanding of each other and a fun time. WEOF continues to work to enhance the The Boo Crofton Nature Center. The outdoor classroom is a wonderful learning environment for studying nature in the wetlands. WEOF has provided funding for software from Lexia Reading for the middle school, digital cameras for the art department at Blue Bell Elementary School and Ipods and MP3 players for the special education reading students at the elementary schools. Funding for picnic tables in the outdoor classroom pavilion at the Lower Gwynedd nature center was also approved. WEOF also supports Family Awareness Night for the middle and high school students, Ramp Riot for the Robotics team and the district Art Show.
WEOF recently funded a grant to update the Wissahickon High School TV Studio with more video storage and materials to build and furnish a new set! Look for teacher Jessica Fritz’s talented students on Whaddup Wissahickon found on the district cable channel.

Performing Art Series 2009-10
The WEOF board of directors has awarded $600 to each elementary school and to the middle school for a performing arts assembly during this school year. Each school will have the opportunity to schedule their own assembly with their own schedule and content needs in mind. The middle school has already scheduled Quiet Riot to perform in October of 2009. This group will use the performing arts to convey their anti-bullying message. Stay tuned for pictures!!
Mattison Avenue Elementary School is also working on scheduling their assembly, Got Character – Cool Tunes for Kids, for May of 2010. We look forward to hearing from the other elementary schools with their selections.
Mattison Avenue Mentoring Connections Program
WEOF supports this successful program that connects community volunteers with students at Mattison Avenue Elementary School. During the 2008-9 school year, WEOF sponsored a series of after school activities, including yoga, for the students and their mentors. This program has been supported by WEOF for several years.
